An Quantum Enforcement Device (QED) is a vehicle component that disrupts a vehicle from utilizing its Quantum Drive to Quantum Travel. It is capable of operating in both Quantum Enforcement modes:
- Quantum Snare: pulling vessels out of Quantum Travel and preventing from engaging Quantum Travel
- Quantum Dampener: preventing the engaging of Quantum Drives thus preventing Quantum Travel and the use of some Master Modes

Confusion with Quantum Dampeners
Due to its name people often assume the Quantum Enforcement Device (QED) to be the only device used in Quantum Enforcement. In actuality Quantum Enforcement makes use of multiple devices, mainly the Quantum Enforcement Device (QED) and a device simply called the Quantum Dampener (QDMP). The difference between the two being that a QED can use both a Snare and Dampener while the QDMP, like the name suggests, can only use the Dampener.
It should be noted that a Quantum Dampener (QDMP) is NOT equal to a Quantum Enforcement Device (QED) and are in fact considered separate devices.[1]
As an example people often say the Cutlass Blue has a QED. This technically wrong as it actually just features a Quantum Dampener component, making it incapable of utilizing a Snare.
