Rest Stop

From the Star Citizen Wiki, the fidelity™ encyclopedia
(Redirected from Rest stop)
The original Rest & Relax station at HUR L2.

Rest Stops are space stations placed in the overlapping gravity fields between two points providing neutral gravity spaces known as Lagrange points,[1] although a few rest in geosynchronous orbits above major worlds. Rest Stops primarily act as fuel and maintenance points between major locations and are essential to quantum drive travel within a star system. Additionally, rest stops provide storefront services for outfitting and resupplying citizens.

In the update for Star Citizen Alpha 3.6.0, the small Rest and Relax stations were replaced by extremely large modular and multipurpose space stations. These behemoths offer greatly increased functionality such as additional docking capacity, character habs, and a full galleria featuring a wide range of shops and restaurants. Some offer refining or bulk cargo services as well.

Rest & Relax

Currently, all rest stops in Star Citizen are owned and operated by Rest & Relax. Known colloquially as "R&Rs", they are the primary refuel and resupply station throughout the galaxy. The first Rest & Relax station was built in the Baker system by Johann Alejandre and Kelley 'Teak' Sabatino, with initial investment by Mahir Eriksen.[2]

Layout

Exterior

Rest stops are extremely modular, and therefore they have multiple possible exterior and interior layouts. Depending on the station's size, there are a variable number of pads and hangars available (typically enough for 6-18 vessels). Exterior landing pads are the primary landing locations for most ships, but hangar bays are available for larger vessels. As of patch 3.6 the largest stations sometimes feature pressurized external docking arms capable of accommodating capital-sized ships.

The exteriors of the rest stops are used as advertising space, with large holosigns adorning the tops and sides of the stations. There are also multiple flood lights on the exteriors to aid in station identification, as well as red approach path markers leading to the pads and hangars.

Interior

Guests to the station travel from their landing location to the main interior via elevators. A single lobby contains all pad/hangar elevators. In the center of the elevator lobby is an ASOP terminal location for ship retrieval. A short walk leads to a second set of elevators that guests can use to travel to multiple areas, including the station's galleria, the hab section, and the refining or cargo modules (if present). Like the exterior, the interior of the station is covered in holosign advertisements for many different companies.

Services

In addition to the standard repair, rearm, and refuel capabilities, rest stops offer various retail options for those visiting the stations. Available stores vary by location:

All rest stops also include an Admin office and at least one Covalex Shipping dropbox, for parcel mission pick up or delivery. As previously mentioned, Rest Stops may also offer bulk refining and cargo handling services.
