Contested Zones are a game mechanic in Star Citizen introduced in Alpha 4.0[1]. They are free-fire PvPvE areas where players can find unique loot and rewards[1][2].

The main contested zones are located on three space stations in the Pyro system, and are the sources of Boards 1 through 7:
