Subject: End of an Era

I write to you today with a heavy heart. After 465 remarkable years, the Hathor Group will be shuttering all operations. Despite the best efforts of me and the board, we were not able to keep this company solvent amidst adverse economic headwinds, onerous environmental protection laws, and increased competition over dwindling resource reserves.

This isn't the way any of us wanted it to end, but there's still much to be proud about. Hathor was the first company to purchase mining rights to an entire system in 2468. Now named [[Nexus system|Nexus]], many UEE officials have told me that they wished the system's original name of Hathor was still used to honor this incredible achievement. Furthermore, innovations created by this company revolutionized and streamlined strip mining by allowing for faster and more efficient resource extraction. Finally, despite our business being targeted by well-intentioned but overzealous politicians with the [[Fair Chance Act]], Hathor not only survived but thrived as many other mining concerns of our size failed. Though the Hathor story may end today, you can be certain that our legacy will endure.

It's been the honor of my life to run this company and work with all of you fine folks. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Hathor Group was a Human inter-planetary mining concern that employed harsh, environmentally catastrophic techniques that left otherwise inhabitable planets desolate in the company’s wake. It purchased the Nexus system from the United Nations of Earth (UNE) in 2468, strip mining the surface of Lago (Nexus IV) and ignoring burgeoning criminal activity in the system. New environmental protection laws established after the end of the Messer Era (2546-2792) resulted in the Hathor Group’s dissolution in 2864.[1]

History

In 2468, Hathor Group purchased all mining rights for the Nexus System. Neglecting security, the system quickly became full of criminal activity which led to its final abandonment by the group in 2672.[2]

After a series of poor investments and unsuccessful claims, the company used its remaining funds to mine the newly discovered Stanton System in 2853. However, unexpected challenges arose, ultimately leading to the cessation of operations and the formal dissolution of the Hathor Group in 2864[1].

Now named Nexus, many UEE officials have told me that they wished the system's original name of Hathor was still used to honor this incredible achievement. Furthermore, innovations created by this company revolutionized and streamlined strip mining by allowing for faster and more efficient resource extraction. Finally, despite our business being targeted by well-intentioned but overzealous politicians with the Fair Chance Act, Hathor not only survived but thrived as many other mining concerns of our size failed. Though the Hathor story may end today, you can be certain that our legacy will endure.

It's been the honor of my life to run this company and work with all of you fine folks. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
