The UPES Bunjil was a Perseus-class gunship that served in the United Planets of Earth Navy. It was one of the first of its class commissioned. It participated in the 'incident at Red Ridge' where the arrival of the intimidating vessel quelled a violent insurrection on Cestulus without a shot fired. [1]
Perseus class gunships are historically named for great historical or mythological figures, in this instance Bunjil, creator god and culture hero of some Aboriginal Australian peoples of Victoria.[2]
