The First Jump Day is a holiday in the United Empire of Earth (UEE) held annually on April 10th. The day recognizes the day that Nick Corshaw became the first Human to discover a jump point on 10th April 2271.[1]

History

Space craft began to vanish without explanation in the Sol system during the 23rd century, in a region of space that came to be nicknamed the Neso Triangle. The disappearances and the sounding mystery attracted both scientists and explorers to the region. Nick Corshaw, an astrophysicist looking for an explanation to the disappearances made the first discovery and traversal of a jump point by a human. Using a personally modified quantum drive, Nick Corshaw successfully navigated the jump tunnel and discovered a new planetary system. The system was named Corshaw in his honor.

The official UUE holiday was established in 2380 after the formation of the United Nations of Earth (UNE) government.[2]

Traditions

Many commemorate the day by traversing a jump point or by searching for new jump points.

One of the key milestones of human achievement in the lore of Star Citizen is “First Jump Day,” when legendary Human and pilot, Nick Croshaw, discovered and navigated the first Jump Point, on , and became the first Human to visit a planetary system beyond Sol.

Eventually that system was named Croshaw in his honor - his journey was described as “the Jump that changed the course of Humanity” - and led to the star-faring future we depict in Star Citizen and Squadron 42.
