The 8-SCU sack is a standardized[1] collap`sible cargo container with a measure of 2.75 x 2.75 x 10.25 m[citation needed] and a internal volume of 8 SCU. These sacks are a means to bundle mined ore. They are collapsible and detachable so the ships employing them can carry spares, giving them additional capacity. They expand as they are filled and once full they can be detached. They can then be picked up by other ships and their contents transferred for further processing.[2].
