The Cano system is a four-planet star system located in the United Empire of Earth (UEE). The only inhabited planet, Carteyna (Cano II), is an ocean planet tidally locked to its star. Humans have attempted to terraform the planet multiple times; however, all attempts have been unsuccessful. Carteyna was placed under the Fair Chance Act in 2902, when life was discovered developing in its deep oceans. The current inhabitants of the planet were consolidated into a single arcology to avoid damaging to environment. Terraforming attempts are now outlawed.

Cano

Cano is a G-type main sequence star.

Planets

Cano I

This tidally locked mesoplanet rapidly orbits the central star.

Carteyna : Cano II

For centuries, geoengineers tried to terraform this ocean planet with little success due to the difficulty in converting its relatively thick atmosphere. However, all attempts were halted when microscopic organisms were discovered deep in the water and Carteyna was placed under the Fair Chance Act. Seeking to protect the indigenous life form, previously existing planetary settlements have been allowed to remain and are strictly regulated.

Cano III

Home to a small research station looking into terraforming smog planets.

Pox : Cano IV

A large gas giant comprised of multiple bands of reds and browns. Surveys indicate that the planet suffers from massive storms, some as large as a thousand kilometers in diameter.

Asteroid belts

The Cano system contains one asteroid belt, Belt Alpha is located between the planets Cano III and Cano IV.
