This Example System article is to designed to help with adding new star system overview articles to the wiki. Just follow the instructions below.

Usage Instructions

Create a new article, switch to the Source tab in the article editor, and then Copy and paste the following. Update each line, as appropriate.

Description, which may initially be from Galactic Guide, Comm-Link, Jump Point, or Starmap but is not limited to it. Regular namespace articles are updated as new information comes in.

 • Note that as a regular namespace article (unlike Comm-Links), cannot be its own source. Please do cite sources.
 • Add wiki links to first appearance important names & terms.
 • Do not add link to section headings

Splitting large chunks of description info into sub-sections can be helpful for readability, and this may already be the format of an information source.

Some potential description sub-sections include:

History
Culture
Industry
Economy
Again please remember to source.

The next section of the article should list any and all planets in the system. If the Starmap treats an object as a planet, treat it as a planet (i.e. Synthworld, Delamar, Ellis XI and Spider would therefore fall under this section). However, satellites of planets should not be included.

Here is an example of the Planets section:

Planets
Example I
Starmap description of Example I

Planet Name : Example II
Comm-Link description of Example II

If both Starmap and Comm-Link info on planets are available, use the Starmap info in the Planets section.

The next section of the article should list any and all asteroid belts in the system, including asteroid fields and asteroid clusters. However do not include any objects already listed in the Planets section, i.e. Delamar, Ellis XI.

Here is an example of the Asteroid Belts section:

Asteroid Belts
The Example system contains two asteroid belts. Belt Alpha is located between the planets Example I and Planet Name. The Named Asteroid Cluster lies at the system's edge.

The next section of the article should list any and all space stations orbiting the system's center, i.e. its star. Do not include stations that orbit any other astral body such as planets or moons.

Here is an example of the Space Stations section:

Space Stations
Named Station
Starmap description

The last section, Known Jump Points - lists any and all known jump points within the system.

Here is an example of the Known Jump Points section:

Known Jump Points
Note that this table can be expanded by duplicating the 5 lines above the |}

End by copy/pasting:

Edit "System Name" in the info box and substitute the appropriate system name. Use the system's name only - "Example", rather than "Example System"

Featured Image

We need a featured image for our System Infobox. The standard protocol is to use a top-down view of the system as a whole, using the Starmap's 2D function.

As an example, Stanton uses a shot that clearly displays all 4 of the system's planets. Of course this isn't always feasible for larger/denser systems.

If no such suitable Starmap shot is available, system art would be the next best thing. It might be hard to track down however - if it exists at all.

Note:

The following may be useful for manipulating images on the the RSI Website:

Comm-Link featured images are often cropped for effect, and may not be the most suitable for showing full art etc. What we may need to do is take the "post_section_header" and change it to "post" (for smaller, approx 500 pixel wide) or "source" (highest resolution) and pull the result from the RSI website:

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/media/a9li1ch9c4hcwr/source/Apocalypse-Arms.jpg

Once you have an applicable image, it can be uploaded clearly named to indicate the system's name and that it is a system, i.e. "Stanton2DSystem.PNG"

Remember to enter the image's uploaded name in the image field of the info box so it will show up.

If no applicable image exists or can be found, leave the image field blank.
