Quick facts:Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2949
Doors open at 16:00 SET
The Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2949 was a 12 day ship exposition event held at Bevic Convention Center in Area 18 and the first IAE who appeared in-game event and was added with Star Citizen Alpha 3.7.0.[citation needed] The expo is an annual event that brings ships of all different manufacturers together to be displayed at several expo halls.[1]
Ship showdown
Intergalactic Aerospace Expo (IAE) succeeds the annual Ship Showdown. During the showdown, backers were able vote on their favorite ship through a round-based bracket-system between September 13 and October 10, 2949.[2][3]
The winning ships of 2949 were as follows:
Placement | Ship Name | Ship Manufacturer | Special Edition Ship (RSI website) | Standalone Pledge Price (USD-RSI)[4] |
---|---|---|---|---|
1st | Caterpillar | Drake Interplanetary | Caterpillar Best In Show 2949 | $295.00 |
2nd | Reclaimer | Aegis Dynamics | Reclaimer Best In Show 2949 | $400.00 |
3rd | Cutlass Black | Drake Interplanetary | Cutlass Best In Show 2949 | $100.00 |
4th | Hammerhead | Aegis Dynamics | Hammerhead Best In Show 2949 | $725.00 |
It should be noted that Best In Show 2949 ships have a modified "factory" or "default" livery. Similar to other special edition ships, such as the Constellation Phoenix Emerald.
Best In Show livery upgrades were awarded to backers who owned the corresponding ships through pledging. This upgrade was optional.[5] Alternatively, the Best In Show variants of the winning ships could be purchased through the pledge store.
All subsequent Ship Showdown liveries have been livery options in the form of ship paints that can be applied or removed in place of the "default" livery.
Stock limited sale schedule
IAE 2949 featured a sale of stock limited ships[6] on the Pledge Store on the RSI website. These ships are considered 'exclusive' and are therefore only sold in limited quantities over a small period of time. Each stock-limited ship is limited to 1 per account and were available in three waves:
