The Tevarin-Human first contact was an event in 2541 where Humans and Tevarin first made contact with one another shortly after Dr. Kellar Lench of the New Horizons Research Institute discovered a jump point into the Elysium system. Observing signs that the system was occupied by a technologically advanced civilization, he dispatched a research drone to gather data without disturbing its inhabitants and found a spacefaring people living on Elysium IV. Initial diplomatic attempts by the United Planets of Earth (UPE) first contact team proved unsuccessful. The Tevarin, facing an overpopulation problem due to their lack of terraforming technology, soon attacked the invaders in an effort to take Human colonies in neighboring systems for themselves, sparking the First Tevarin War.[1]
