The '''Void Rats''' are a UEEN fighter squadron. Originally they were concieved as an anti-slaving squadron in the [[Nexus system]], under the command of [[Lt. They suffered a significant defeat in the [[Nexus system]] at the hands of mysterious assailants. After this, [[Admiral]] [[Hackbarth]] reassigned them to sweep the [[Cathcart system]] and head to the [[Centauri system]] Despite this being a low-action posting, the squadron once again found itself in conflict with the same mysterious assailants.<ref name=":0" />

The squadron commandeered a Mark I [[Constellation]] the ''[[Plumetail]]'' from its owner, Captain [[Sharona Sirene]],<ref>{{Cite Jump Point|title=The Void Rats, Part III|volume=1|month=7|startpage=49|endpage=56|accessdate=2021-05-17|author1=David Niles}}</ref> which was able to repel the attackers. The local captain was able to identify the assailants as crime lord [[Zander Dane]] and his crew, seeking personal revenge against [[Lt.
