While travelling within Hurston Dynamics governed space, be mindful that you are subject to not only UEE laws but to the local jurisdictional laws as well. If you violate local laws, even unknowingly, you may be expelled, fined, arrested, or imprisoned.

Just like [[UEE Military]] and [[UEE Advocacy|Advocacy]] agents, local security personnel can require you to submit to identification scans to establish your identity, conduct searches of your person and vessel, and detain you with due cause. Always obey the directives of authorised security personnel.

Be sure to familiarise yourself with the jurisdiction's criminal activities and comport yourself accordingly.

Jurisdictions are the boundaries of a faction's legal reach. If you perform an action considered a crime within such a jurisdiction, you may face a penalty - as of Alpha 3.7 this can mean a kill warrant, a fine in UEC or reduced privileges.

Definitions

Felonies

By UEE definition, felonies are arrest-able actions that are considered crimes anywhere within the UEE. By People's Alliance definition, they are considered the most serious of crimes.

Felony Definition
Assaulting Security Personnel The attempted infliction of deadly harm to security personnel in the lawful discharge of their duties.
Destruction of Vehicle The destruction of a privately or publicly owned vehicle caused by a being who is not the owner through neglectful or intentional action.
Evading Arrest Intentionally attempting to elude or flee from security personnel attempting to lawfully arrest or detain them.
Failure to Comply Failure to comply with requests or commands of security personnel in the lawful discharge of their duties.
Harboring a Fugitive The harboring or concealment of any individual who is known to have, or can be reasonably suspected of, committing a criminal offence.
Homicide The infliction of mortal harm on another being, either intentionally or accidentally.
Operating a Stolen Vehicle The operation of, including being transported aboard, a vehicle they do not own nor have they been granted permission from the owner to operate.
Resisting Arrest The attempted infliction of deadly harm to security personnel attempting to lawfully arrest or detain them.
Sabotage The wilful destruction, severing, contamination, or disruption of vital imperial-defense materials or public safety utilities such as, but not limited to, communication networks (comm arrays, comm relays, comm drones etc), fuel infrastructure, power grids and life support systems.
Trafficking of Class A Controlled Substance Possessing significant quantities (in excess of 0.125 SCU) of materials that have been deemed a "Class A Controlled Substance" by the UEE and/or the local municipality with a clear intent to traffic, sell, or distribute said materials.
Trafficking of Stolen Property Possessing significant quantities (in excess of 1SCU) of items that are known, or can be reasonably expected, to be stolen with a clear intent to traffic, sell, or distribute said stolen property.
Trespassing Wilfully entering and remaining on private or public property that they do not own nor have they been granted permission from the owner.
Unauthorized Computer Access The illegal accessing of a computer system, through either forceful intrusion, crypto-cracking or other means, by a being who is not the owner nor has been granted permission by the owner.
Unauthorized Interdiction The illegal usage of a non-destructive device to interfere with a privately or publicly owned vehicle's ability to function or travel, such as, but not limited to, Quantum Enforcement Devices.

Misdemeanors

Misdemeanors are finable actions that require monetary restitution.

Misdemeanor Definition
Parking Violation Parking or idling in a designated hangar, garage, or landing zone without the authorisation of its owner or sanctioned traffic controller.
Possession of Class A Controlled Substance Intentionally carrying or stowing inside a vehicle they are operating, a material that has been deemed a "Class A Controlled Substance" by the UEE and/or the local municipality.
Possession of Stolen Property Intentionally carrying or stowing inside a vehicle they are operating, an item that is known, or can be reasonably suspected, to be stolen.
Vehicular Collision The collision of two or more vehicles attributed to the negligent operation of one of the involved vehicles by a being demonstrating a wilful or wanton disregard for safety.
