Community events held by Cloud Imperium allow players within the community to participate in various activities. Prizes may be awarded, which may be both in-game and physical items. Contests are announced in This Week in Star Citizen comm-links and in Spectrum General forum.

The Next Great Starship	2014-06-08	Grand prize	Creating ultra-detailed spaceships is the heart of Star Citizen’s development. From concept to final texturing, a ship can take teams of expert designers months to create the level of graphical fidelity and detail that have become hallmarks of the Star Citizen universe. Now Chris Roberts and his team of visual designers are looking to the community for the next great team of ship designs.	$30,000, Great Starship is included in Star Citizen, each member receives the first production models, Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suite, Maya Premium, AMD Radeon R9 290X (for each team member).
