The Ares Star Fighter Ion is an anti-capital fighter manufactured by Crusader Industries. Designed to lead the charge against capital ships and heavily armed flotillas, the Ares ION excels at spearheading a fleet of fighters and support ships. Its purpose-built Behring SF7E laser cannon accurately delivers high-powered shots to quickly disable the shields of gunships and, with the support of other Ares variants, efficiently incapacitate capital-class vessels.

- Behring SF7E Laser Cannon: Exclusive to the Ares Ion, this laser cannon is integrated into the ship's frame and can't be swapped. It has a range of at least 8 km.[1] The purpose-built laser cannon accurately delivers high-powered shots to disable the shields of gunships before working with other vessels to incapacitate them.[2]
- Other: The ship is able to fly without a power plant for a certain time due to its batteries.[1] It is also described as a 'long range' fighter, which means it can fight against a target from a large distance. The ship has no interior (bed or bathroom).[1] The ship fits in the hangar of a Javelin.[1]

The Ares Ion was originally scheduled for Alpha 3.15. It was delayed and implemented in the game in Alpha 3.15.1.[3]
