The MOLE Talus is a distinctive variant of the MOLE (Multi Operator Laser Extractor) medium-sized mining vessel, manufactured by Argo Astronautics. This special edition was specifically developed to commemorate the introduction of the MOLE and features a distinctive light grey colored exterior. The ship is equipped with three operational mining turrets and extensive crew amenities, making it ideally suited for effective multi-crew mining operations. Furthermore, it boasts a substantial collection of twenty-four mineral pods, guaranteeing that no valuable resources will be overlooked. The MOLE embodies the principle that collaborative efforts lead to increased efficiency. [1][2]

Features

Trilateral Mining
Three distinct and manageable mining heads enable individual operators to extract resources from different nodes and asteroids, or to concentrate their efforts on a single substantial deposit that requires additional power for extraction. [1]
Mineral Pods
The Mole is equipped with 24 compressed mineral pods, each with a capacity of 12 SCU. When these pods are filled, they can be released for collection by cargo haulers. At any given moment, the Mole is capable of transporting eight fully loaded pods.[1]
Crew Quarters
A practical yet comfortable arrangement of crew accommodations offers essential amenities for the pilot and three mining operators during both extended and brief mining expeditions.[1]
Upgraded Mining Hardware
The Size 2 laser heads mounted on the Mole's mining arms are designed to accommodate larger targets while enhancing safety during mining operations. This capability is bolstered by a robust power plant and ARGO's highly user-friendly control interface[2]

Development

2019-11-23 The MOLE was first revealed to CitizenCon 2019 attendees during the "Ship Talk" panel in the Croshaw Auditorium. This panel wasn't streamed live but made available to everyone later on YouTube. At this stage, the Mole was already fairly far into production state, because Cloud Imperium announced that it would be made available for Alpha 3.8.0, due later that year.
2019-11-27 During the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo a few days after CitizenCon 2019, the Mole was also featured in a Whitley's Guide episode. Here, presenter Jax McCleary gained exclusive access to the Mole.[3]
2019-12-21 The ship was made playable for Star Citizen Alpha 3.8.0.[4]
