The Reclaimer Best In Show Edition is a limited edition ndustrial salvage ship manufactured by Aegis Dynamics that was created especially for the 'Best In Show' event at the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2949 and has a unique white and purple livery. It is designed with a fortified cargo bay, an advanced long-range jump drive, and launch pods specifically for unmanned drones, making it exceptionally suited for exploring and salvaging deep space wrecks. Its array of features, including tractor beams, floodlights, various scanning options, and docking ports, enhances the functionality of this versatile and practical spacecraft.[1]

Features

Massive Multi-Tool Arm
Equipped with a multi-tool arm that dwarfs many ships, the Reclaimer can grab space-borne salvage and then carry it aboard for processing.
All-in-One
In addition to a large cargo hold, the hull is packed with reclamation equipment capable of processing and storing up to a Constellation worth of salvage.
Drones
The ship carries an array of Surveyor-class drones for seeking out valuable items. (Not yet implemented as of Alpha 3.24.3.)
Equipment
With an array of tractor beams, floodlights, scanners and a multitude of other equipment, you have a wide range of salvage-specific options.
Manned Cutter
If you need to personally get up-close, the Reclaimer also includes a manned cutter which can be deployed for EVA/recovery operations.
Defense
The Reclaimer's turrets are multi-use hard-points which can be mounted with defensive guns or missile batteries.[2]

Lore

The Reclaimer is Aegis Dynamics’s best-selling remaining military contract ship, following the distancing afforded to the company by the UEE since the fall of the Messer regime.[3] In 2932, the Reclaimer "General Dogsbody" completed the most profitable salvage mission in human history recovering a failed 22nd-century colony ship adrift in deep space. The ship’s crew became millionaires and minor celebrities overnight and the event prompted much greater interest in the previously uncelebrated task of space salvage. As interest in salvage boomed and crews began pooling money to purchase their own Reclaimer platforms, Drake Interplanetary captured some of that market releasing the single crew Vulture in 2938.[4]

Development

  • While the Reclaimer awaits an interior rework, a 240 SCU storage has been added to the salvage-processing deck to allow easier storage of salvaged materials before requiring transport to the cargo deck area. The existing cargo deck holds a further 180SCU (totaling 420SCU) while the rework is ongoing.[7][8]
  • The Reclaimer was originally called Surveyor, the 32 million stretch goal. The ship concept was designed by George Hull (Freelancer Conceptist).[9] An interior rework is planned for the Reclaimer.[7]

Trivia

  • It was one of 4 finalist in the 'Best In Show' event during Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2949. Reclaimer owners, at the time of the event, received an upgrade to this variant as a reward. The ship was also offered as a stand alone purchase to backers only during the event.[10]
